Abstract
The existence of non-competitive market structures has unfavorable consequences for
economic efficiency, and thus social welfare. Contemporary economic analysis identifies different effects of non-competitive market structures. Non-competitive market structures have significant consequences on production efficiency, i.e. factor productivity, and in this way social welfare. Good anti-monopoly policy has to be well balanced and flexible, in order to minimize the negative effects of noncompetitive market structures.
