Abstract

Intangible cultural heritage is manifested through various customs, music, games, myths, stories, spiritual aspects, and values of communities and is one of the main factors for the development of a tourist destination. Due to the great interest of tourists in cultural values, the authors of the paper approached the research of an increasingly current world topic that concerns intangible values as an attraction in a particular destination. The paper deals with the research of visitors’ attitudes about whether intangible cultural heritage can be an attractor and to what extent, for attracting tourists to Sremska Mitrovica. Used SPSS software, version 23.00, and a descriptive analysis of the quality item were presented. The results show that the average assessment of the respondent’s knowledge of the offer of a tourist destination is at a satisfactory level and that the majority of respondents believe that Sremska Mitrovica has great potential as a tourist destination in the Republic of Serbia. The results also show that intangible cultural heritage is one of the key motives or attractors in choosing a tourist destination.

Key words: intangible cultural heritage, tourism, Sremska Mitrovica.
